Just finished it and at first I really enjoyed the survival. Setting up camp, exploring, finding new crafting, fighting the cannibals.
But then I started noticing the bad things. Camps are always empty unless a patrol runs by. Sudden mutants are sudden without any introduction or reason, a third of the very large map is empty of anything interesting to find, it gets repetative, the map doesn't show the entire island which is weird, photos of hidden caches are sometimes just pictures of nothing and no one in their right mind should be able to find it, and though the subtle clues about the past are very spooky, you are very suddenly thrust into a new environment in the ending that is so empty of anything really interesting and of enemies that I ended up rushing through it.
I really hope Sons is way better
